Kindergarten Associate Teacher for 2019-2020

Entry-level Kindergarten Associate Teacher for the 2019-2020 school year.  

This position is perfect for new teachers who want to grow and learn as they will be mentored by two experienced co-head teachers.  

A Bachelor’s degree is required.

Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management for 2019-2020

The Town School seeks a Director of Admissions and Enrollment effective July 2019.
The Director of Admission and Enrollment Management is responsible for all aspects of the school’s admission process. The Director oversees marketing initiatives, the assessment and selection of students, the enrollment and orientation of new families, and the reenrollment of current families. The Director reports to the Head of School, is a member of the school's senior leadership team and sits on the Board’s marketing committee.  This is a twelve-month position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing and managing the efficient workings of a demanding admissions operation
  • Effectively communicating the school's mission, philosophy, values, and programs
  • Fostering powerful relationships with feeder programs, fellow admissions professionals, and relevant community organizations
  • Compiling and analyzing admission data trends and projections and sharing them with the administrative team and the Board of Trustees
  • Helping newly enrolled students and families’ transition into the school.
  • Being part of the financial aid decisions team

Qualifications:

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree; be highly supportive of and congruent with Town’s mission and philosophy; be committed to equity and inclusion; have at least five years experience working within an independent school admissions office; have experience with tools such as School Admin and be technologically advanced; and  have the personal characteristics of an outstanding admission professional: tact, sensitivity, superb communications skills, warmth, discernment, high energy, and, of course, a good sense of humor.

Math Specialist, Grades 5 – 8 for 2019-2020

The Town School seeks an experienced middle school educator for the Math Specialist for Grades 5 - 8 position for the 2019-20 school year.  
 
The math specialist will work in partnership with the Nursery through Lower School math specialist and will work with guidance and student support teams. The position requires a background in math as well as experience with curriculum development and an understanding of how students learn math. The specialist will oversee curriculum and work with Upper School math teachers to help implement curriculum to meet the needs to all students. 

Qualifications include:

  • a Master’s degree in math education/leadership

  • 5 years of experience as a math teacher, specialist, or curriculum developer. 

  • being knowledge about math learning and instruction at the grade 5 – 8 level

  • excellent communication skills with both students and teachers as well as various constituencies

  • experience with TERC Investigations and Connected Math Project 3 are a plus.

Part Time 7th and 8th Grade Spanish Teacher for 2019-2020

Responsibilities: 

  • Teach 2 sections of Spanish
  • Potentially serve as an US Homeroom teacher/advisor
  • Participate in other US duties, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Exhibits a positive way of being, as an educator and community member, in all school contexts
  • Shows an appreciation for the craft of teaching, along with a passion for and knowledge of middle school language learning and the developmental needs of children in this age range
  • High linguistic competency beyond the middle school curriculum
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion
  • Fluency with the ACTFL WORLD-READINESS STANDARDS FOR LEARNING LANGUAGES
  • Strong capacity to integrate technology into classroom teaching
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating with colleagues, parents and students
  • Possesses the following habits: collaboration, organization, confidence, reflection, vulnerability and resiliency, communication and transparency, curiosity, ethics, social and emotional intelligence, and action-orientation
  • At least 5 years teaching experience, preferably across multiple grades
